Composer Serge Verstockt created a new version of his acclaimed multimedia composition ‘A la recherche de temps’ in dialogue with video artist Koen Theys. The work is performed in collaboration with soloist Jaan Bossier of the world-renowned Ensemble Modern.
Verstockt and Theys also made ‘A la recherche de temps II’, this time for violin and video, commissioned by De Bijloke and in co-production with ChampdAction-Ensemble Modern. This is done in collaboration with Megumi Kasakawa, one of the string players of Ensemble Modern.
While composing ‘A la recherche de temps II -Doloroso’, Verstockt was confronted with a world at war, right-wing movement, nationalism, refugee crisis and terrorism. This led to a piece in which the ‘Human Rights’ are ‘whispered’ by the viola in the first part. It then slowly finds its tone, which culminates in a wild punk concert.
